Hi, I'm Lauren
I'm the owner and founder of Harmony Horsemanship.
Horses have been a part of my life for more than 45 years. During that time, my journey has given me the opportunity to experience many different facets of the equestrian industry, both in Australia and overseas.
I've been fortunate to groom top-level competition horses in Ireland and work on thoroughbred and standardbred breeding enterprises, handling foals and weanlings and preparing yearlings for sale. I've also trained young horses from their very first interactions with humans, retrained numerous retired racehorses, competed across a number of disciplines, and owned and managed agistment centres.
While those experiences gave me a wealth of practical knowledge, they also sparked a desire to better understand horses, how they learn, and how we can communicate with them more effectively. Over the past decade, I've immersed myself in the study of horsemanship, learning from some of Australia's and the world's most respected horsemen, horsewomen and equine professionals.
I'm passionate about continuous learning and believe that, just as our understanding of horses continues to evolve, so should we. That journey has fundamentally changed the way I see horses and continues to shape the way I work today.
I believe every horse deserves to be understood as an individual, and that the best results come from clear communication, patience, and building trust by being predictable.
Why Harmony Horsemanship?
I chose the name Harmony Horsemanship because, to me, harmony is more than a training philosophy. It's the feeling we strive for every time we work with a horse. It's that moment when horse and human begin to move together with softness and willingness—where communication becomes quiet, understanding replaces tension, and both move with a shared purpose.
Harmony grows through empathy, patience and clear communication. It comes from observing the horse in front of us, recognising what they're communicating, and responding with consistency and predictability that allows confidence to grow. Harmony flows through excellent horsemanship. That's why the two H's in my logo are joined—they symbolise that harmony and horsemanship are inseparable.
Harmony isn't something we teach a horse. It's what becomes possible when both horse and human learn to understand one another.

Life at Harmony Horsemanship
Harmony Horsemanship is based at our property just outside Ballarat, where I live with my husband, Trevor. Like many people who fall in love with a horse person, Trevor didn't know quite what he was signing up for! Despite having very little to do with horses before we met, he's a natural and has become an invaluable part of the Harmony Horsemanship family. Thankfully, he indulges my passion and has embraced the wonderfully chaotic life that comes with loving a horse person.
Together we share our home with a small herd of personal horses, our two dogs—Millie and Hugo—and Freddie, our cat, who is absolutely convinced he's a dog.
